Asbestos Surveys
Professional asbestos surveying services to identify and assess asbestos-containing materials
Expert Asbestos Surveys For Your Property
Under the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, property owners and duty holders are legally required to manage asbestos risks in non-domestic premises. The first crucial step in this process is identifying where asbestos-containing materials are located and assessing their condition.
Our BOHS P402 qualified surveyors provide comprehensive asbestos surveys that identify the presence, location, and condition of asbestos materials in your property, enabling you to fulfill your legal duties and protect building occupants.

Our Survey Types
We offer different types of asbestos surveys to meet various requirements and scenarios. Each survey is conducted in accordance with HSE guidance HSG264 and provides the information you need to manage asbestos risks effectively.
Management Survey
Standard survey for ongoing asbestos management
A Management Survey is the standard survey required during normal occupancy and use of a building. Its purpose is to locate, as far as reasonably practicable, the presence and extent of any suspect asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) which could be damaged or disturbed during normal occupancy.
When is it required?
- For routine management of asbestos in buildings
- When creating an asbestos register
- For regular monitoring of known asbestos materials
Refurbishment/Demolition Survey
Comprehensive survey before building work
A Refurbishment and Demolition Survey is required before any refurbishment or demolition work is carried out. This survey is fully intrusive and involves destructive inspection to gain access to all areas, including those that may be difficult to reach.
When is it required?
- Before any renovation or remodeling work
- Prior to partial or complete demolition
- When major building work is planned

Common questions about our asbestos survey services
How long does an asbestos survey take?
The duration depends on the size and complexity of your property. A small residential property might take just a few hours, while a large commercial building could require several days. We'll provide a time estimate based on your specific requirements.
Will the survey disrupt our normal operations?
Management surveys can usually be conducted with minimal disruption to daily activities. However, refurbishment/demolition surveys are more invasive and may require access to all areas, potentially causing some disruption. We'll work with you to schedule the survey at the most convenient time.
How often should I have an asbestos survey conducted?
The HSE recommends that asbestos materials are re-inspected at least every 12 months, or more frequently if materials are in poor condition or at risk of damage. Additionally, a new survey should be conducted before any refurbishment or demolition work.
Do I need a survey if my building was constructed after 2000?
Asbestos was banned in the UK in 1999, so buildings constructed after 2000 are unlikely to contain asbestos. However, there can be exceptions, such as if older materials were reused or if imported materials were used. If you're certain your building was constructed after 2000 with no older materials, a survey may not be necessary.
What happens if asbestos is found?
If asbestos is identified, our report will include recommendations for managing it. In many cases, if asbestos materials are in good condition and not likely to be disturbed, they can be safely managed in place with regular monitoring. If removal is necessary, we can advise on the best approach and provide associated services.
